Yasus Afari & Claudius 'Supa' England

Yasus Afari (born: John Sinclair) is one of Jamaica's top dub poets. A childhood friend of record producer Garnet Silk, Afari has collaborated with Silk on many of his best-selling recordings including several singles recorded with Maxi Priest.

The recipient of the 'Dub Poet Of The Year' award in 1993, Afari has toured throughout the United States and the Pacific Islands with Black Uhuru.  He has also been nominated for the 2014 UN Fellowship for People of African Descent and shortlisted for Poet Laureate of Jamaica.

Yasus will be performing over live music from Claudius 'Supa' England. Hailing from Montego Bay, Jamaica, he combines the universally popular reggae/dance hall style with positive and empowering messages that speak to young people, especially young men. He has won critical acclaim locally and internationally, and has shared some of Jamaica’s largest stages including the world renowned Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival.
